Rainbow Color Above the Sea

The Rainbow Meditation

I want to share with you my experience with the rainbow meditation technique, a guided meditation to lead you towards inner peace.

I use the rainbow meditation not only as a mindfulness activity but whenever I feel like my energetic body is out of balance. The rainbow breathing technique that this meditation uses is particularly healing for the whole body and not just the mind. I always come away from it feeling like not only have I done something beneficial for my mental health, but I have reenergized my whole self on a physical and also vibrational level.

There is something incredibly powerful about the rainbow meditation technique. It works on a mental level to release busy thoughts and bring emotional stillness, but also on an energetic level, the power of breathing colors is transformational as a meditation practice.

If you’re interested in the energy centers and balancing certain chakras, you’ll find this meditation to be an important part of your daily self-care rituals.

It’s also the kind of meditation you can do on the go, sitting on a bus or train, or even just quietly as you wait in line at the grocery store. You can practice it in just a few minutes and bring yourself quickly to a state of calm, inner peace, and present moment awareness.

Rainbow Meditation

This meditation is a simple guided meditation that you can easily practice on your own. In a way, it’s like a form of self hypnosis and can really work to bring your mind and body to a place of deep and lasting peace.

It’s also a really nice way to get children interested in meditation as a simple mindfulness activity that they can enjoy. The emphasis on breathing different colors is a wonderful way to learn about the chakras, or different energy centers and the breathing method can teach us all how to maintain deep focus and stillness.

The colors that we use in the rainbow guided meditation are obviously the colors of the rainbow, but they also correspond to the colors of our seven main chakras or energy centers with a unique purpose and meaning.

The colors and their chakras:

Red/ Stability is associated with your root chakra, located at the bottom of the spine.

Orange/Relationships and creativity is associated with your sacral chakra, midway between your naval and bottom of the spine.

Yellow/Self Esteem is associated with your solar plexus chakra, in your stomach area.

Green/Love and Compassion is associated with your heart chakra.

Blue/Communication is associated with your throat chakra.

Indigo/Psychic vision is associated with your third eye chakra, between your brows.

Purple/ Violet /Spiritual connection is associated with your crown chakra, right at the top of your head.

All of these energy centers/chakras are experienced in this rainbow or chakra meditation.

The meditation works by guiding your focus through each color and therefore each energy center. With focused, deep breathing you will move gently through breathing and visualizing each color, basking in their unique frequency and feeling as you meditate towards a sense of inner peace.

It’s important to balance our energy body just as its important to live a balanced life through a good diet and exercise. When we are out of balance energetically, we feel irritated, angry, and are much less productive in our lives.

In short, the rainbow meditation can lead you towards greater personal power, inner peace, and happiness, raising self awareness and connecting you to a deep sense of purpose.

So how do you practice it? Read the following guided meditation and learn what’s involved. It couldn’t be simpler! Read it through a few times before you attempt the meditation yourself.

Practicing The Rainbow Meditation

Womain doing meditation

Take some deep breaths in and out and gently close your eyes, settling into your space.

Become conscious of your breathing, taking deep and purposeful inhalations and exhalations.

With every breath become aware of relaxing your whole body a little more. Drop your shoulders and relax your muscles, let yourself be fully present in the experience of this meditation.

Imagine now that you can see a beautiful, shining rainbow right in front of you.

You can see every single color of that beautiful rainbow as it glimmers and glows before you.

Visualize that rainbow, see it in detail and let its beauty fill you with joy.

You are going to begin the rainbow breathing now, and as you do so, allow your body to soften and let each color fill you with its unique qualities of light energy.

You are going to take a deep breath, and as you inhale visualize the color red.

Imagine yourself breathing in the color red. Relax your entire body as you bask in that color. Imagine the color red giving healing energy to your root chakra.

Now, take another deep breath and breath in the color orange. Imagine your sacral chakra receiving that light energy. Bask in the color orange as you exhale.

Now, take another breath and this time breath in the color yellow. Relax as yellow fills your entire being with its bright light, energizing your solar plexus energy center.

Breath in the color green now and let green fill you with its calming and soothing light. Let its light heal your heart chakra.

Now, inhale the color blue, and as you do so visualize blue as it wafts through your being, filling you with its cool and calming energy. Let blue heal your throat chakra.

Next, you are going to inhale the color indigo. Let the color indigo bathe your third eye chakra with its healing energy. Let your breathing be calm and soft as you relax.

Now, inhale the color purple. Let the color purple or violet swirl around the top of your head, sending light energy to your crown chakra.

Allow yourself to sit in the stillness that you have created. Let your mind be quiet and feel a sense of personal power and peace.

You feel cleansed, balanced, and energized by the rainbow breathing. You are ready to go forward into your day with a clear mind and a sense of joyful purpose.

Sit here in silence for as long as you feel necessary for you.

When you want to, gently bring yourself back into the sensations of where you are sitting and open your eyes.

That’s it!

I hope you experience the same kind of whole-body self-care that I do when I practice the rainbow meditation. Increase your well-being, raise your self-awareness, and practice mindfulness with the colors of the rainbow!
